He he...Gotta Love the Way Obama Played This One

Obama has sadly disappointed me lately with his dealing with the Honduras situation, but today I was as pleased as a plum...

Zelaya has tried to play both sides of the fence now for too long and it isn´t working now...the US is the devil that intervenes and sticks their nose in where it doesn´t belong statements has backfired on him...not to mention that Calderon all but deported him from Mexico...

The governments of Mexico, Canada, AND the United States rejected the direct intervention of the United States in reinstalling Zelaya as president of Hondras...

At the meeting Barak Obama qualified Zelaya´s statements as hypocritical. He said that those who ask for the direct intervention of the United States in the Honduran crisis(what crisis?) are the same players that said to the United States not to get involved in affairs of their countries..

The same critics who say that the United States has not involved itself sufficiently are the same ones who say that the United States is always involving itself and that the Yankees need to get out of Latin America....(Barack Obama...I will have to remember this one...this was priceless)

Both Canada and Mexico backed up his statements with their own...of course what else did Zelaya expect from Mexico after making a horse´s rear out of himself in Mexico and bordering on violating their laws himself? Canada is going to go along for the ride because they find it quite eyebrow raising that these same folks ala Chavez have boohoo´d the US being involved in Latin American affairs and Obama as promised said that he would not involve the US and now they are boohooing him for not getting involved...hypocritical to say the least..

I Am Back

I went on my own sort of strike, except it isn´t really a strike but a fact finding mission plus dealing with a child who broke his arm...he was acting like spider man...never mind that he doesn´t have web fingers and can´t scale large buildings he figured he would try anyway...broke arm..well off to the hospital we go..
Last Tuesday my son got out of school early since the last period teacher did not show up and he walked home...I was in a meeting with his old school´s director as we had a serious talk about what happened and what would be the corrections made. Apparently the news, the fiscalia(attorney general) and a few others met with them and they were finding themselves in a bit of hot water...they almost begged me to leave my son there and not transfer him, but I said no and stood my ground....anyhow toward the end of the meeting the cell phone rings..and rings and rings..I finally pick up to tell my neighbor I am in a school meeting and what do they need...well they yell emergency get home quick your son fell and broke his arm...ack! Ok I run out the door say that it is an emergency at my home and made a 15 minute trip in 5 minutes flat...neighbor already has son ready to head to the hospital and half the neighborhood comes along...show me the ropes and con me into going to Catarino Rivas(the public hospital) I am already freaked out about the broken arm which is clearly broken...but even more freaked out about the public hospital that I have never used. We get there they attend to him rather quickly which surprises me since I have heard horror stories about the hospital...they send us for x rays and charge me 30 lempiras...I am in shock as I had already grabbed about 300 because that is what mine cost when I slipped on new ceramic in the house and broke my wrist last year.(the hospital was on strike then too..so I had to get private care...)well after my initial shock of paying 30 L which is only $1.60 I am impressed and take him to get his x ray...we sit there a bit longer..about an hour...of which I am initially uncomfortable about because he is in pain...we get the x ray, wait another 15 minutes for it to be developed and go to the front again...he has recently ate and drank so they say we have to wait for a few hours before they can take care of him, plus his break is complicated and the Orthapedic surgeon comes in at 7 so that we will be seen then...this is 2 pm so I am freaked out about waiting 5 hours, but prefer it to letting just anyone deal with what really does look like a complicated break in the x ray...it is displaced in the initial x ray and a break in three places both of the bones that connect the wrist to the arm and a side break of one of those radial bones and it splintered. Yikes! So I am terrified by this point, the neighbor notices I am about to have a stroke from the events..calms me down and tells another neighbor to get me something to drink that he thinks I am about to faint. We go back home, let my son sleep and head back to the hospital at 7...the orthopedic surgeon looks at the x rays..determines it doesn´t need surgery because he is young and strong and it looks like he can place it pretty well, but this hurts..they don´t give you anathesia for this here..he snaps the bones together like they are supposed to look except for the really bad looking break that is a jagged line through both bones. However, I am pleased that he fixed it like it is supposed to look even if my son screamed for dear life while it was done. I never want to do that again...
He came home to find I wasn´t here and decided it would be ok to climb to our second story patio and wait for me instead of going to the neighbor´s house like we had arranged...well I have the electricity turned on to electrify the serpantine wire...he touches the wire in his climb and it throws him backwards to the ground...burned hand, broke wrist, panicked mother...he promises he will never do that again...I sure hope not..I can´t take another event like that. Here we are a week later he has a cast almost to his arm pit and can´t use the computer...hehe that is one way to keep him off the computer..my entire trip to the hospital ended up costing us 60 lempiras for two x rays..one before the cast and one afterwards to see that the bone is correctly placed...and 70 lempiras for medicine and the consult...so I spent a grand total of 190 lempiras..which is $10 and some change...when we got home many people were waiting at our front door for us to arrive and see how he was...this is why I love Honduras.
